Aluminum Free Deodorants that

are also VEGAN

If you’re too busy to make your own vegan deodorant, here’s a short list of aluminum free deodorants and what I think of them. I have researched their ingredients and production methods for your convenience. The deodorants are in no particular order on this list.

1. Nature’s Gate Fruit Blend Deodorant  (pictured to the left)

Pros: This deodorant is completely vegan and cruelty free. It has a strong patchouli fragrance that seems to last longer than most brands. There is also a grapefruit and ginger variety that I have not tested. The deodorant is moderately priced at 6 dollars for a container.

Cons: I don’t know if this is a pro or a con for some, but the deodorant does not last all day. However, this problem can be easily mollified by simply taking the deodorant with you in a purse or handbag and reapplying when needed. A number of people have also reported that the deodorant causes painful skin rashes. It may be that they have sensitive skin or are unknowingly allergic to one of the ingredients. I personally had no such issues. I recommend doing a test on a small patch of skin with the product before apply any sort of new cosmetic.

2. Herban Cowboys’s Maximum Protection Deodorant

Pros: It’s vegan and cheap but it is not an aluminum free deodorant.

Cons: Many people have reported having painful skin reactions. If you check the comments sections of amazon for this product you will see some pretty gruesome photos. This product is also not an aluminum free deodorant. The obvious question is, of course, why am I including this product on my list? It’s here mainly because I want to point out some of the tricky advertising products use to pull you in.

3. Green Tidings All Natural Deodorant

Pros: In my experience this aluminum free deodorant does exactly what it promises. It’s completely organic, gluten free, corn free, aluminum free, paraben-free and much more. In short, it has none of the bad things. The plastic tube is even BPA free. It comes in two fragrances: lavender and unscented.

Cons: The tube is small for the price you pay. It’s kinda on the expensive side.

Ingredients: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Shea Butter (Unrefined, Fair Trade), Magnesium Oil, Manuhot Esculenta (Tapioca) Starch, Aluminum-Free Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate), Wildcrafted Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera). 100% pure lavender essential oil added in lavender scent version ONLY.

4. Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant

Pros: This aluminum free deodorant has a lot of things going for it. For one, it’s free of the majority of the ingredient nonos. It also does a great job of preventing and removing underarm funk.

Cons: The price is steep and many users have reported this deodorant causing cystic lumps in their underarm area. While I did not have any such problems, I strongly caution against using any baking soda based deodorants if you are someone who has sensitive skin.

Ingredients: Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), Maranta arundinacea (arrowroot) powder, Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Cedrus deodara (Himalayan cedar) essential oil, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Juniperus (juniper) essential oil, Humulus lupulus (hop) extract
